Our History

Every summer, our donkeys roam the trails of the Savoyard mountains to carry your children and enhance your walks with cuddles and tender moments.

Au Baudet Malin was founded in 2006 by Virginie and Francis Garçon, a couple who love the mountains and animals. At the time, they were wondering how to take their three young children, Eva, Noa, and Carla, to the mountains. Their children constantly complained of sore feet while hiking.

The answer was: Donkeys. Gentle and sturdy companions, ideal for carrying children and climbing steep trails. This is the idea that gave birth to Au Baudet Malin. The desire to share this baby-carrying solution with the public, with the aim of experiencing unforgettable family moments inside the mountains.

Our Tours

Go hiking on prepared and marked trails, known like the back of their hands by our big-eared friends, they will guide you with firm feet to approach marmots and local wildlife.

Short walks

- BLUE : 1H30 easy

- ORANGE : 2.5 hours easy

- YELLOW : 2.5 hours sportif

- DISCOVERY Trail: 2.5 hours sportif

Please Note

Hikes lasting more than a day are reserved for experienced walkers and children over 5 years old.
Good weather is essential for mountain hiking. We reserve the right to postpone or cancel hikes in the event of bad weather. Meals and overnight stays in mountain huts are the responsibility of hikers and must be booked in advance.

From Peisey-Nancroix, take the direction of Nancroix/Rosuel ; pass the village of Moulin , Nancroix ; pass in front of the campsite "Les Lanchettes" ; arrive at the start of the hamlet "Les Lanches" ; after 500m, parking on the right and our structure is located below the road on the left.

"Hi, my name is Cookie, I'm 17 years old and I'm the cuddliest donkey of all. I like to fall asleep in the crook of your arms, it reassures me! I walk everywhere in the mountains, I have a cool and calm step. I'm tall and strong, I can even carry teenagers! If you pass by, don't hesitate to scratch my ears, I love it!"

PATSY

"Hello, my name is Patsy and I joined Au Baudet Malin in 2008. I am a very experienced, calm, gentle and very cuddly donkey. I will take you on large and small tours but always in pairs. I need to have a donkey colleague with me to work well. And yes, I don't like walking alone! I am a follower and proud of it!"

CALINE

"Hi, I'm Caline, I'm 19 years old and I'm still as dynamic and frivolous as when I was 6. I walk quickly and well, I'm cable to goi on a 6-day tour in the mountains. I'm a competitive donkey so I have a strong character. I need a confident leader! I love children and their cuddles, it channels me and gives me even more strength!"

CANNABIS

"Papycana, that's me, I'm the oldest of the herd and the only male. I have a privileged place here because I'm very kind and very cuddly. I arrived at Baudet Malin at the age of 3. I walk slowly now but I've crisscrossed the whole of the Vanoise of yesteryear. I know all the trails by heart! I'd be happy to take you to the bottom of the valley for a picnic.

I need a leader who has a firm grip because I have a voracious appetite for thistles, raspberries and herbs of all kinds! But with a little encouragement I can walk for days on end!"
